When I was teaching, I would take my three- and four-year olds for a big walk every Friday morning. It was our weekly welly walk and the children loved it. There was always something new to see and do, and it was a great way to see the changes in the seasons.
Little Man and Little Miss love to go for big walks too. But it’s the kind of thing you intend to do, then you get to the end of the week and realise you didn’t get round to it! In the New Year I decided to start doing a weekly welly walk with them, whatever the weather. They have warm waterproof suits, and a bit of rain doesn’t bother them in the least.
The first week was great fun, but a little short – it was freezing cold and foggy so we didn’t get much further than a march up the hill and back again before we needed to get back for a drink of warm milk!
Then we had all the snow – well I’m all for getting out regardless of the weather, but walking through knee-deep (for them) snow was going to be a little tricky.
This Friday dawned bright and crisp though – perfect welly walk weather. They marched up the hill singing Jack and Jill, and found a lovely muddy puddle…

So lovely to watch them on the video singing away as happy as could be. I look forward to more welly walk adventures on Country Kids.

Thank you :) It was great fun, they loved it. I’m looking forward to warmer weather too so we can have a picnic snack half way round!
This is wonderful – we have made a pledge to 15 minutes outside every day and I will be adding this as a weekly tradition to that.
Thank you so much for linking up to Tuesday Tots and letting you know that I’m featuring this over on Rainy Day Mum this week.
